APC/Beat the Heat

What a weekend for a double header at the beach as the United Racing Series APC Pro Late Models rolled into Sauble Speedway for their first of two races this season. On day one the INEX Legend Cars, Can-Am Midgets and the APC Late Models were on the card and with a great crowd on hand. 24 cars would take the green flag for the Stewart's Equipment 100. Sunday's portion of the double header would bring you the INEX Legend Cars, Can-Am Midgets, Pro Late Models for the Beat the Heat 100 laps and resuming from Wednesday's Dash for Cash would be the Roote's Gas Bar United 8's.


The Saturday's portion of the show was amazing. With the Can-Am Midgets returning to Sauble Speedway for another weekend of double header action. The INEX Legend Series returned as well for their National Qualifier event at the speedway. Then of course the APC Late Models made their way onto the track.


In the Can-Am Midgets it would be #7 Jeff Blackburn and the #49 of Dominique Smith taking heats one and two before getting their cars ready for their 25 lap feature race. When the checkered flag flew it was the #7 of Jeff Blackburn out duelling everyone to walk away with the surf board.


The INEX Legend Series saw 16 cars come on out to the beach to do battle for 25 laps. In heat #1 we seen the #60 of Parker Traves make his way to victory lane for the heat 1 win. Heat #2 saw the #79 of Adam Cuthbertson work his way to the winners circle on the front stretch. In heats three and four was mirror of the first round of qualifying with Parker Traves and Adam Cuthbertson heading to victory lane. When the dust settled it was the #60 of Parker Traves out lasting the field to win the INEX Legend Car Series National Qualifier event.


The main event of the night of course was the Stewart's Equipment 100. With 24 cars starting the 100 lap event you can bet there was no short of action all around the 1/4 mile track. With just a handful of laps left in the 100 laps event the leaders made contact bringing out the caution. When the dust settled it was the #17 of Josh Stade collecting his first career APC Late Model victory.

That was just day one. We re racked them and did it all again on Sunday for the main event of the Beat the Heat 100 lap for the Pro Late Models. First up though was resuming the Roote's Gas Bar United 8's Dash for Cash.


When we last left off the #36 of Lane Zardo just took the lead over the #33 of Roy Wilkie before the red flag came out. 12 cars returned to run the remaining laps and when the checkered flag flew it was the #8 of Jason Parker taking the victory and the $5,000 pay day.


The Can-Am Midgets ran two heats before setting up for their 25 lap feature race. Heat #1 saw the #57 of James Stanley head off to victory lane. Heat #2 saw the #42 of Daniel Hawn head off into victory lane for the heat win. When all was said and done the #7 of Jeff Blackburn would sweep the weekend at the beach collecting his second feature win in as many days.


INEX Legend Car Series was up next with their heats on the night. Heat #1 saw the #79 of Adam Cuthbertson roll into victory lane for his third heat race of the weekend. Heat #2 saw the #00 of Joe Adams make his way into victory lane for the heat win. Adam Cuthbertson in the #79 would have a clean sweep of his heat races for the weekend collecting his fourth. Heat #4 it would be the #33 of Paul Pierik holding off Smokin' Joe Adams for the heat win. The field was set for the 25 lap feature. When the dust settled of the feature it was the #79 of Adam Cuthbertson having a sweep of day collecting the feature win.


It was time for the show that everyone waited for. The annual Beat the Heat 100. The teams and drivers set out for qualifying. With a quick time of 14.382 Primetime Josh Stade would lead the field to green for 100 laps. When smoke settled Josh Stade would take home the checkered flag, the big cheque and the surfboard to show that he Beat the Heat at Sauble Speedway.


Next race on the schedule for Sauble Speedway is Saturday August 6th. The Ontario Super Late Models make their second visit of the year to the speedway. Also on the card is the Roote's Gas Bar United 8's, Combined 4's going for 20 laps $500 to win PLUS the return of the INEX Legend Car Series.
